Third Saudi-Bahraini Coordination Council meeting outcomes hailed

The outcomes of the third meeting of the Saudi-Bahraini Coordination Council, co-chaired by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, and His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister of Saudi Arabia, in Riyadh, topped the agenda of a joint government-legislature meeting today.

The results of the high-profile Council meeting will strengthen the strategic Bahraini-Saudi partnership, in line with the visions and aspirations of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, the representatives of the government and the legislative authority said.

The executive-legislature meeting was chaired by Ahmed bin Salman Al Musallam, Speaker of the Council of Representatives, Ali bin Saleh Al Saleh, Shura Council Chairman, and Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani, the Foreign Affairs Minister.

Shaikh Salman bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, the Minister of Finance and National Economy, Ghanim bin Fadhl Al Buainain, Minister of Shura and Representatives Councils’ Affairs, Mohammed bin Thamer Al Kaabi, Minister of Transportation and Telecommunications, Hamad bin Faisal Al Maliki, Cabinet Affairs Minister, and Abdulla bin Adel Fakhro, Minister of Industry and Commerce, in addition to the deputy chairpersons and committee chairmen of the Shura and Representatives councils, attended the meeting.

Speaker Al Musallam affirmed the depth of the fraternal long-standing Bahraini-Saudi relations, strengthened constantly thanks to the support of HM King Hamad and the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques.

He stressed the legislative branch’s support for the initiatives and projects launched by the Saudi-Bahraini Coordination Council.

The Shura Chairman indicated that the Bahraini-Saudi strategic relations are growing steadily thanks to the support of the two kingdoms’ leaderships.

He added that the Saudi-Bahraini Coordination Council, which was launched five years ago, has opened up wider horizons of cooperation between the two kingdoms across various vital and promising development fields.

The Foreign Affairs Minister expressed delight at meeting the representatives of the National Assembly to inform them about the outcomes of the third meeting of the Saudi-Bahraini Coordination Council, in line with the directives of HM the King and HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister to enhance cooperation with the legislative branch to serve the kingdom’s comprehensive development process.

He added that the Saudi-Bahraini Coordination Council reflects the sound directives of HM the King and the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques to constantly strengthen bilateral ties and bolster joint cooperation to achieve common interests.

He affirmed that the meeting had been successful by all standards, thanks to the distinguished relations between HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister and HRH Prince Mohammed bin Salman, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister.

The government team informed the legislative authority about the projects and programmes announced during the third meeting of the Saudi-Bahraini Coordination Council. They included:

1- The opening of the first Saudi-Bahraini Company, established in November 2022 between the Public Investment Fund of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the sovereign wealth fund of Bahrain, Mumtalakat, with an investment of USD 5 billion.
2- The completion of Saudi-Bahraini direct security e-networking and electronic linking.
3- Inclusion of the willing Saudi establishments in Bahrain’s Takamul Programme aimed at promoting national products by giving them priority in government procurements.
4- Treating Bahraini products on equal footing with Saudi products regarding content and government procurements.
5- The completion of the construction of King Abdullah Medical City Hospital in the Kingdom of Bahrain, which is scheduled to open in the second quarter of 2024.
6- Electronic linking between Saudi Arabia and Bahrain to share customs data.
7- Establishing the Bahraini Board, in cooperation with the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties.
8- Launching exchanged programmes in training and digital capacity development.
9- Launching opportunities to qualify, incubate and accelerate innovative business models for male and female entrepreneurs, in addition to initiatives in the field of generative artificial intelligence.

The government team also reviewed the agreements and memoranda of understanding signed during the third meeting of the Saudi-Bahraini Coordination Council in the fields of energy, economy, finance, financial markets, law, culture, education, administrative development, health, television, radio, and news.
